From the first page, the reader is gripped by this exciting adventure, pulling you into a story you thought you knew. Van Wyhe's book delves into the psychological makeup of Robin Hood in such a fresh way that Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe don't come close to morally portraying or explaining the uplifting character of this man, who had no intention of being anyone "important" as he wrestled with his own demons. What is so refreshing about this deeper view of Robin Hood is that it makes sense in a higher-calling-of-mankind way! We as humans do search for the goodness within and struggle daily on how to bring it out in our lives. This book is not only logically, historically and common sense correct (as well as superbly written,) this is a fun read that lets you finish it out encouraged, a little tired from the excitement, but over all, uplifted in your own "common man" striving to live a worthwhile life. If this is any indication of this author, I'll be eagerly watching for more works by Van Wyhe!
Finally a Robin Hood that makes sense and is well written! The characters come to life with historical accuracy that makes this fun without insulting anyone that has a basic knowledge of history. Hopefully when Hollywood notice's this book they will keep it's integrity. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this! I'm downloading more from this author as soon as I finish this review.
